Lent is the liturgical time of conversion, which makes the Church to prepare for the great feast of Easter. It is time to repent of our sins and to change some of us to be better and live closer to Christ.
Lent lasts 40 days; Ash Wednesday begins and ends before the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday. In the longer this time, especially the Sunday liturgy, we endeavor to recover the pace and style of true believers that we must live as children of God.
The liturgical color is purple this time it means mourning and penance. It is a time for reflection, repentance, spiritual conversion, a time of preparation for the Paschal Mystery. During Lent, Christ invites us to change your life. The Church invites us to live as a way to Jesus Christ, listening to the Word of God, praying, sharing with others and doing good works. Invites us to live a number of Christian attitudes help us become more like Christ, as a share of our sin, we turn away more than God. For this reason, Lent is a time of forgiveness and fraternal reconciliation. Each day during life, we must throw our hearts the hate, resentment, envy, jealousy, opposed to our love for God and neighbor. During Lent, we learn to know and appreciate the Cross of Jesus, learning from this as well to take up our cross with joy for the glory of the resurrection.
The duration of Lent is based on the symbol of the number forty in the Bible.
