Welcome Remarks For Elementary Graduation

HOG AND MIGUEL MUNIZ

For ordinary people, perhaps because they know the story in our standard stand the figures of a raven with bread in its beak and a piglet, but for People who do not know maybe find it strange. Even for some of the people who are simply used to see them there because they know not where it comes from this. Mainly, it is clear that San Antonio Abad (or St Anton) is the patron saint of animals, but why specifically a crow and a pig?.

However, the figure of the raven is that in retired as a hermit in the desert, San Antonio Abad had the help of this bird that every day brought him a piece of bread to feed with dates. Hence, the raven appears in step with bread rolls in the mouth, and there also comes the main adornment of San Antonio Abad on Saturday in his transfer to church and Sunday in the procession are the dates tertiary . This crow was not initially present silver this now looks at the base, but was a wood carving of black
even lived outside the base (you can see here ).

The pig also has its history. It is said that there is a legend that in the birth of a pig, one of the piglets was born sick. The piety of the Saint made pitied the poor animal and bless. At that moment the pig was able to heal and start walking. Both appreciated the gesture to the holy animal that decided to walk for life and retire with the San Antonio Abad in the desert.
Today, one of the attractions of the festival is the raffle of pigs, which is one of the pillars that sustain it economically. From the 6th of January, when the kids play with their gleaming new toys pigs through the streets of the village next to some shepherds and a drummer for the raffle of the ballots. Not only do in Trigg, but also in neighboring towns throughout the month of January until the Monday of Holy, the last day of the feast, before retiring San Antonio Abad, are raffled off at the door of City Hall.

And while these kids enjoy their toys, the less kids enjoyed the sound of the flute and drum to accompany the slow walk of our pigs of San Antonio Abad. That tune that serves as a link to dismiss the holidays and prepare for our big party, San Antonio Abad.

Greetings.
