1 Nephi 10: 17 to 19
17 And it came to pass after I, Nephi, having heard all the words of my father, concerning the things he had seen in his vision, and the things he spoke by the Holy Spirit's power, power received by his faith in the Son of God and Son of God was the Messiah would come-I, Nephi, was desirous also that I might see, hear and know of these things, by the power of the Holy Spirit is God's gift to all those who diligently seek him, in times past as the time when he should manifest himself unto the children of men.
